A Good Read

I just started my second Jodi Picolt book. She is amazing! I am so in love with the way she writes. It is so easy to get lost in her extreme life conditions and in her characters. She does so well at portraying her characters as real people. This is one thing i am so in love with when i read, it is so nice to truely understand charcters for the way they are supposed to be percieved. My new goal is to read all of her beautiful books and add them to our collection.

My Very Own Home Make Over

Last week Kaden left me to go hunting with his dad. I must say at first i was a little upset, one because for some reason whenever i want to leave i get a guilt trip, and two because i can not sleep for the life of me while kaden is away and i had a lot of school work that needed my full attention not my i didn't get any sleep at all last night attention. I got over kaden being gone pretty quickly though when i realized all of things i would be able to accomplish with out him being home. My mom realized them too and saw this as the perfect opportunity to finally make our little house a home. I am so grateful that she did because with out her it would have never happened. Tosha offered to help as well and in three days we completely transformed the little place. I forgot to take before pictures but let me describe it to you if you have never seen it before. My living room had the most unattractive blue curtains ever, my kitchen had black stuff all over the wall, my bathroom was brass and wood, had no floor boards had a huge gaping hole above the shower and it once had the most unattractive wall paper up until kaden decided to rip that down then leaving an even more unattractive wall. Our office was a closet full of boxes not decorated at all, and finally our bedroom, it was completely white with no curtains and we used kadens old comforter made for a full as our bed spread on our beautiful queen bed. Also our bed is putter and our dressers had gold on them. So basically it was all kind of thrown together. Now this is our home. :) Thank you so much everyone who helped! We both absolutely love it!

The Short Trip to Uncle Jimi's, Moving Grandma in a Day.

Early (7:30 am) last Saturday My dad, two sisters (Katie and Sarah), Kaden and I headed to New Berry Park California for a quick visit. Grandma Karla is moving into Logandale and has her own place this time! This move happened so fast it was great and the trip to California just added to the action. After our short 7 hour drive we arrived at Uncle Jimi's and began to unload the majority of the garage into my dads truck and trailer. By we i really mean Jimmy, Dad, and Kaden. They seemed to have it under control so Sarah and I did what we do best and visited with Aunt Heather and played with the boys. It was so nice to catch up with their family we really don't get to see them enough. Katie had a blast playing play station with James while we got the run down on all of the boys sports updates from Justice, he is five and i swear a little genius. James is playing flag football now and Soccer. Although the game is to grab the flags he has a tendency to take down everyone in his path. Honestly this kid is destined to be the most amazing sports child on the planet. Well after visiting for awhile and making a trip to Sports Chalet the packing was done and everyone played a game of baseball in the front yard. A little back ground on the Hendrix sports history. Jimi and Dad had scholarships through high school playing sports. Jimi even went and played on a farm team for the Philadelphia Philis. His sons are like three times the size they are supposed to be and can already throw a ball faster than most guys i know and can bat both right handed and left handed. So this was a pretty competitive game. Especially since us Hendrix girls are so uncoordinated and the only who does play sports is Sarah and that doesn't say to much for us. Well anyways we had a fun time playing and i had a chance to take some pictures. After the baseball game the boys insisted on playing some street Basketball. That was a lot of fun as well and the boys got to hang out with Kaden some more. They absolutely love him. After basketball Justice goes "So what sport now guys" its funny how they never stop. We had a nice dinner though and got to talk about making pomegranate wine (anyone interested ;) ?) and Kaden got to do some sucking up to "Grandma K" Heather named him grandson K it was pretty funny. Oh i did forget to mention though that Kaden dropped me off of the trailer between the baseball and basketball games and that was pretty eventful. The night ended with some good old Golden Spoon and buying a new wake board on our way home at Sports Chalet. We had noticed them earlier and they were 50% off, it was just a deal we really couldn't pass up. At 4:30 am Sunday morning we pulled into the valley. Just in time for a quick nap before church.

The Power of Positive Thinking

If you have not read The Secret I strongly encourage it. I picked this book up a couple years ago when i found myself working for a woman who had a tendency to tell me how amazing i was in one sentence, then take it back along with all of my other confidence in the next. This book along with The Art of Being a Woman got me through some terrible days and hard times. I learned so much about the two ways the world can be perceived. Either you can be optimistic and look at everything positively or you can be pessimistic and look at everything negatively. The more you think positively the more the universe is on your side and the more the universe is on your side the more good things will happen to you. Okay, I'm not a big fan of thinking in terms of the universe but i chalked it up to be the more positive i am and the more i look at situations with the glass half full the more my heavenly father would be willing to help me. Today is a perfect example of this. I have been looking forward to my midterms thinking of them as something that will only help me further my educational career and allow me to know how well i really do know my required subject matter. At two thirty p.m. i sat down to my Philosophy Midterm and smiled i knew exactly what to do for every problem and i finished with confidence in my work at three fifteen p.m. I know this is all thanks to my positive outlook on the test and the help of my Heavenly father. I am sure if i was freaked out through the entire thing i would not have had so much help from him or done as well at all. So, if you need some tips on how to think about life i strongly suggest The Secret, you will have to take it interpret into your own life for sure, but it really will help. I promise.

Midterm Day!

Today is Midterm Day! Woot Woot! I know most people would not be celebrating like i am at the moment, but most people also would not be blogging an hour before they take their hardest exam either. I am hoping i guess if i look at today in a positive way then i will do well. My philosophy teacher would tell me i am being irrational and I am having a Motivational Error since i have evidence providing me with my belief in this conclusion. Oh well its worths trying though. Philosophy is half way over and i am proud of the grade i have earned so far this semester. Well Good luck to me! I am off to study.

Back to School and Working as Usual

Well school started August 25th and has been going pretty well so far. I am taking 18 credits right now. Eng 102 Eng 231 Phil 102 Math 95 Edu 201 and Edu 214. Three of my classes are online and actually seem to be harder then any of my other classes which is kind of ironic since i am taking them from CSN and the other ones are at UNLV. Anyway since i piled on the classes i had to quit my job. No more driving to mesquite which is nice but i am also losing my tan super fast and i think i am whiter than i was when i got married. Kaden is still just working for Wheelers but we feel blessed that he has a job so no complaints. He has decided to get his journeymans and wants to do all he can to learn more about his job. He does change his mind quite a bit though so we will see what he ends up doing. Besides work and school we haven't been all that exciting. I finally read the twilight books and Kaden got the lawn mowed once i think ha. We pretty much just play with tiffany and visit our parents. Tiffany is growing so fast i wish she would just stay little forever. I did go see the Brittney Spears concert which was a blast, and Kaden went scouting with his dad and brothers and to an off road race with my dad.

San Fran Again

So for my 20th birthday back in August Kaden took me to San Francisco again. I am not quite sure what it is about that place but we both absolute love it. Some day in the far future don't be surprised if we end up living there, even if it is just for the summer. Well so when we went this time we planned out all of the places we wanted to see in advance and even figured out the bus routes even though that didn't help us much. There is a story there and I'll get back to it. First the places we visited.

The Golden Gate Bridge was first. Actually it came just after Tiffany's &Co. but it was our first real destination. It was beautiful outside, honestly we couldn't have asked for a better time to visit the bridge usually it is so foggy that you can hardly even see across it. It was a pretty neat walk too. Once we got to the middle we saw sea lions and dolphins in the water below us and watched as a massive oil tank went under the bridge as well.
Kaden likes to model for me :) i just had to throw this picture up though these doors were on the most beautiful abandoned building just around the corner from the bridge.
Our next visit was to The Exploritorium and Fine Arts musuem. We didn't end up going inside because we were pretty hungry and ready to head to the warf but the outside is absolutely beautiful. The architecture here is so diverse and so amazing I am always in aw with the different types of beauty.
After that we headed to the Warf, sorry no pictures of that... its not to exciting anyways. The next day we went to Coit Tower which was very neat and on the way there we found Mama's and decided we'd go Sunday before we left. Anways, Coit tower was nice very historical as well and allowed you to see all of San Fran from the top. Then after that we wandered around and made our way back to the warf for lunch again and to see the Sea Lions.

Ive decided to become a proffesional Sea Lion Photographer.

Okay on to our last day their and probably our most interesting. We started the morning out by packing up and checking out of our beautiful hotel. We stayed in the St. Francis Westin on Union Square. I highly recomend it. Then we headed to breakfast in Little Italy at Mama's the place we had seen the day before. The reason we decided we should eat here is because when we past before there was a line that rapped all the way around the block of people just waiting to get in to eat. It was the same way when we went and, no joke, waited in line for an hour and a half. It was so worth it though. Also a must go place anytime you are there. They had the best french toast in the entire world. I was dumb enough to order eggs benedict but luckily Kaden knew what to get. After our amazing breakfast we decided to go shopping further inland at a Nordstrom's Rack we figured it was probably pretty amazing, it was a total let down though. This is when we had know idea how to plan our bus trip. We hopped on a bus called the #9 this is not a joke. Do not ever and i am serious, ever get on the #9, unless i guess you have a death wish but even then i wouldn't encourage it. So we got on the #9 and for some reason though it turned around fairly quick and headed back into Union Square. Oh no it didn't it took us strait to the ghetto as the nice houses turned into run down apartments we knew we were in trouble. Then when we were the only white people on the bus we really knew we were in trouble. Then when the run down apartments turned into ridiculously run down apartments and no one was outside at all except for well very rough people is a good way of putting it we really really really knew we were in trouble. Then to top it off here i am with a 2,000 dollar camera around my neck, tiffanys jewlery on, true religions, and a rock on my left hand. I owe my life to guy in the back of the bus who told us to get off asap and run across the street and get on the next train as fast as we could. He asked where we were from and stated it this way. You might think Vegas is a rough place, but that is nothing. You go any further here and you will end up in a place that even the worst people from vegas are afraid to go. We did as he told and well we are fine but the situation could have been a lot worse. I wish i had pictures of this experience now but at the time i was to afraid to life my camera up and look amazed with what i was seeing.
